  1. A warm welcome to our newly signed members since last July. Thank you for your interest and support and we hope your participation. The Association has six board members who meet regularly. They are: Charles Vaillancourt, 450-226-5664; 514-634-4993; Joy Kirkpatrick,V-P; Susan Chirke, Secretary, 450-226-7544; Eddy Black; Treasurer; Don Stewart; Catherine Pollock (app't in the fall).

  2. Our mission simply put is to preserve the heritage and awareness of it of Morin Heights. We will try to organize activities that further those aims. Since the House and Garden Tours do not serve our primary goal, we will forgo them for the near future. (Unless you know of some historical treasure we haven't seen).

  3. Post Boxing Day Sale! In order to reduce our inventory of Porcupines (our M-Hts. story book) we have reduced the price of Vols. 5, 6, 7, 8 to $12.00 (Reg.15.) to help us pay for the upcoming # 9 (Fall '10). Porcupines are always available at our events, Vaillancourt's; Town Hall; Mickey's or give us a call. Speaking of # 9, the Town is giving us a $600. subsidy to help get it started. It's an expensive project (esp. translation) and we'd like to at least cover our cost.

  4. Coming Events: Mark your calendar for Sun. Apr. 18-2:00 p.m. for our panel discussion on Life in Morin Heights in the ' 60's and ' '70's with 6 panelists. (Remember the fun we had at our '40's & ' 50's event ? Town Library unless you hear otherwise.
Sun. May l6, 2:00 p.m.: Genealogy Workshop (seek out the skeletons) Bring info. on your family and we'll help you put it together. 5 guest experts.
For both events, attendance is free for members; $5.00 for others. Hint-Non-members can pay $10. membership fee and enter free.
Sun. June 6th,3:00 p.m. 1:30 p.m.: A.G.M. which will include elections of board members for 2010-11. You are a member; you can volunteer and vote! Maybe we'll have a surprise too!
Legion Flea Markets take place this year on Saturdays-June 12; July 10; Aug. 7; Sept. 11. We plan to be present, so come and say "Hi" (even renew your membership or buy Porcupines).

  5. On Feb.10 your president met with other reps. of historical assn's of les Pays d'en Haut in Ste. Adle and exchanged ideas. They know who we are and I was welcomed and we'll keep in touch.
On Sat. Feb.13th I, along with other heads of local groups, was invited to meet with reps. from our S.Q. to hear our concerns about citizen safety. Not historical in nature, but we were invited as an association in the town and another networking op!

  6. Do you check our website? http://www.morinheightshistory.org According to Joy (our webmaster), we're quite popular. Our E-Mail address is mhha98@hotmail.com .

  7. Finally, do you have old photos of places/people in and around Morin Heights ? We can scan them and return your originals. Give Joy a call (450-226-5988). We can always add to our collection which we will reorganize shortly.
Hope I haven't rambled on, but I want you to know what's happening (I probably still forgot something). See you on April 18th and bring a friend.

Charles Vaillancourt, president
